Discussion One

Who Moved My Cheese?
In the video “Who Moved My Cheese” Sniff and Scurry are two mice who make decision based off instinct. They are very proactive in that they are aware of their surroundings and make preparations for any problems. When a problem did arise, they wasted no time trying to find a solution.  In my opinion Sniff and Scurry are the epitome of an effective administrator. School administrators are responsible for effectively running a school. This mean like Sniff and Scurry, an administrator must be very observant on his/her campus and be ready to hit the ground running when faced with a problem. Also, administrators must not be afraid to make changes or lead the staff in a new direction.

Hem and Haw are two little people who were put in the same position as Sniff and Scurry, however they reacted the exact opposite. Hem and Haw were very complacent. Once faced with a problem, they spent a lot of time whining and complaining instead of finding a solution. They were very afraid to try anything that may help them. They were afraid of the unknown. Unfortunately people like this exist in our schools. It would ideal for those type of people to be self-motivated and realize change can be amazing, like Haw did in the video, but that not reality. As an administrator you would have to reveal your vision to the Hem and Haws on campus and try to get buy-in from them. The teachers are going to need constant support, encouragement, and motivation.
